Welcome to my shoppe

An accomplished award-winning artist, Mazarine has had several sold-out solo and group exhibitions around the world. She has an avid following of collectors and her works have pride of place all over the world.

Mazarine intelligently plays on a psychological phenomenon known as Pareidolia (parr-i-DOH-lee-a)  – a condition which makes people see familiar shapes and patterns where none actually exist, but in her case, she actually hides the stimulus in there. No wonder critics have tagged her style as “mysteries in color,” you need to find the clues before the subject of the artwork reveals itself. When that happens it is an aha moment.

“The principle of true art is not to portray, but to evoke”

We were blessed to meet the lovely Mazarine in Dubai during a very short expat stint in 2003. On viewing some of the works from Mazarines collection I could see that her art was her passion and what she painted came from within. We were so in awe of a piece of art which Mazarine had worked on that we felt we could not return to Australia without it, almost 15 years later it’s still our most favorite piece of art in the house, it’s still a topic of conversation anytime someone sees it for the first time.

I am currently in discussion with Mazarine with regards to commissioning a piece for my daughter based on her latin ballroom dancing, it will be something she can treasure for a lifetime.

Mazarine Memon’s work came to our notice about 5 years ago at a small show in Toronto. Over the years, we have acquired quite a few paintings including a commissioned work that is the centerpiece of our living room. More recently, we were struck by her Baraz chair collection and decided to acquire one right away! So we confess – we are Mazarine’s art fans! She has an effortless sense of drama and her paintings evoke strong emotions that can vary from energy and momentum to absolute bliss. We love the way she coordinates her colors to create harmony as she did for us in the 3-piece commissioned artwork of a rural scene in India. We spoke to her about the concept and she turned a simple idea into 3 brilliantly coordinated yet complex paintings that have changed the look of our entire living room. Mazarine is on her way to becoming a much sought-after global artist – versatile, natural, gifted, highly intelligent and a joy to work with.

We were first drawn to this piece for the statement that it makes, and how the composition so beautifully captures a woman in thought. The more we looked at it, the more we loved the beautifully depicted figure, hidden among swashes of color.  We also find her pose so interesting, where it portrays simultaneously somebody who is serene, and somebody who is sorrowful. We have received countless compliments on this piece, and we fall in love with it more and more every day.
